Jamie Terral owns Workroom Creations by Jamie LLC. With encouragement from her husband, Bob, and Susan Woodcock, she made her hobby and love for sewing into a second career and is so proud to be a single, home-based, business owner. Jamie feeds her soul by using fabrics and trims to make beautiful, custom solutions for windows, beds, tables and outdoor living areas.
Jamie Terral is wife to her husband of 30+ years, mother to three wonderful children and Mimi to one granddaughter! Through three kids and three home renovations, Jamie’s love for design elements, colors, and fabrics played an important role! As a young homeowner, Jamie had assistance from Interior Designers who helped her bring her vision to life in each room. The results were truly rewarding, but longed to learn more about the process.
Prior to starting her business, Jamie was blessed to work as a paralegal for outstanding, top-tier, litigation law firms in Houston, Texas. She enjoyed the challenges of pretrial work during the energy and banking decline in the 80s, the national breast implant litigation through the 90s, and the toxic mold, sick building suits in the early 2000s. Her career wound down while working for a boutique securities firm, on an as-needed-basis.
Once retired from the legal industry, Jamie directed her energy to the dozens of home decor projects. She became a fan of HGTV, where her go-to designers were Sarah Richardson and Candice Olson, because of their unique use of textiles. However, duplicating their designs was not in her budget, so her discovery of YouTube, DIY books and blogs, was born. She learned to sew home decor, simple upholstery, repair drywall, texture, install crown molding, paint, lay tile and wood flooring. Yes, all from books, blogs and YouTube! Her favorite of all projects, though, was sewing home decor. “YouTubing” around in 2018, she came across Workroom Tech and Home Dec Gal, and signed up for a a 3-day class in May, 2019. Jamie was inspired and gained the confidence to open her workroom, Workroom Creations by Jamie LLC!
However, opening a workroom is not just a sewing machine and a pair of scissors! Jamie continues her education with weekly podcasts, monthly live webinars, semi-monthly meetings with the Houston Area Custom Drapery Association, and attends annual conferences like the Custom Workroom Conference & Marketplace and IWCE virtual events.
Jamie is also a proud member of the National and Virtual Chapters of the WCAA, Pro Plus Member of the Curtains & Soft Furnishings Resource Library, My Designer Concierge, and the Workroom Accountability and Mentoring Group (“WAM”).
Jamie’s mantra is “So Much Fabric, Sew Little Time!”
