Quotes I’m Thinking About This Week:
“If people can be taught to hate, they can be taught to love. But we need to know, you can’t erase history. So, let’s learn from it and be damned sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Opal Lee
I spent a few hours on a tour of a plantation in South Carolina this week. Hearing the stories of the slaves, how they survived, how they cared for each other gave me a very different perspective of what Juneteenth means. I came away with an understanding of how little I know about parts of our nations history. I also had a new respect for how traditions are kept alive through teaching and through words.
I hope you have a great week!
